Description and Details
This Swedish silver table snuff box was made by silversmith K. Anderson in Stockholm in 1938. A large size accompanied by a unique geometric and aesthetic design, this box presents a captivating array of features.
The external geometric design presents a high degree of craftsmanship through the multiple scalloped edges and the curved sides of the box complimenting the repousse design in which multiple sides of the box portray scenes of cherubs, warriors and nobles. Interiorwise, the box has been fully gilded and the finish has a matte-like semi-reflective appearance.
The hinge and closure of the lid function as intended with a smooth movement and firm audible snap upon closure. The large size and contrasting interior gilding makes a bold statement - ideal for presenting on a display table or for a bespoke collection.
The box is fully hallmarked with the maker's mark "K.A", Swedish tri-crown control mark, Stockholm town mark and the date mark "M8" for 1938.
