We are delighted to offer this beautiful Victorian solid silver vesta case made by silversmith Joseph Whitten in Birmingham, 1885.
This vesta case is decorated with the 'Aesthetic Movement' style - an unusual, unique and collectable design with a differentiating style from counterpart pieces of the era.
The Aesthetic Movement, a precursor to the Arts and Crafts Movement was a decorative art style c1870-1900. Regarding this style contextually to silver, the designs were strongly influenced by Japanese themes of nature and wildlife with silverware being hand engraved with fine, minimalistic lines portraying birds, leaves and flowers.
The vesta case is finely hand engraved with motifs floral & foliate designs.
A full set of English hallmarks are present on the inside lip of the vesta case.

Condition
Good Condition - The vesta is in good antique condition with no major or issues. The closure of the lid can sometimes be a little wobbly however nothing to a major degree and can be closed and opened without issues. Please refer to the photographs to examine the condition in further detail.
