Description and Details
We are delighted to offer this magnificent solid silver snuff box made by silversmith Joseph Willmore of Birmingham in 1844.
The box features a very heavy and sturdy construction with the exterior featuring a highly desirable cast floral design with intricately chased acanthus leaves in between.
The top lid features a blank unengraved cartouche with a surrounding border combining a fine engine-turned design with further cast-silver floral chasing giving some height and further heft to the box.
Interior-wise, a fine gold colour is present from the gilding which wonderfully contrasts the exterior silver tone.
The smoothness of the hinge remains in very good condition with a tight closure of the lid signifying its high-quality construction and accurate craftsmanship despite its delicate size.
Full set of English hallmarks are present on both the interior lid and base of the box.
A great example of a quality cast silver snuff box ideal for collections or for luxurious usage for storing small items.
