Description and Details
We are delighted to offer this highly embellished solid silver hand mirror made in Germany, c.Mid 19th Century.
The border surrounding the mirror features a die-stamped silver design with multiple foliate motifs, and four raised figures including three cherubs and one mother.
The acanthus leaves around the edges and the floral designs on the handle of the mirror have been chased, giving further depth and three-dimensional relief.
The mirror in the centre remains in perfect condition with no scratches, cracks or chips - providing excellent reflectivity and practicality for usage. The mirror is designed in a manner that the user's face will just fit at about 3/4 of an arm's length away, giving an indulging experience upon the usage as the embellished border surrounds your face.
The rear of the mirror is fixed with a faux-ivory panel which sits flush with the surrounding silver border.
Usual German hallmarks are not present with an unusual 733 (733/1000 Parts) silver mark at the top of the mirror.
An excellent and practical piece of silverware - ideal for usage upon applying make-up etc.
