Description and Details
We are delighted to offer this beautiful antique Japanese solid silver box made during the Meiji era c.1900.
The box is made with a highly decorative repoussé and chased design of dragons encompassing the entire sides of the box.
The silver exterior presents a hand hammered and finely punched design with many small dots.
The relief of the dragon in comparison to the background is impressive with its head being embossed significantly and the trailing body featuring equally fine embellishments of scales and whiskers.
The interior of the box is lined with some dark blue fabric which is slightly worn out.
The box is marked on the base with a "Jun-Gin" signature - the highest grade of silver with 1000/1000 parts (100% solid silver).
A wonderful object with highly decorative and classic Japanese designs, ideal for interiors and collectors wishing to add Oriental influences.
