Antique German Rectangular Pocket Snuff Box - c.20th Century

Description and Details

This solid silver pocket snuff box is made with 800 grade silver (Hallmarked 800 German Standard) with a gilt interior. The dimensions of this snuff box are rather unusual with a thin and rectangular lid and base featuring a polished finish with an engine turned lid and a high relief chased thumb-piece. The centrepiece is monogrammed with the phrase "lucky for some" and the initials "LA". Unfortunately, the interior maker's mark is worn thus the maker cannot be identified, however, the design of the mark and the overall box construction is similar to counterpart snuff boxes of the 20th Century. The hinge and lid closure function flawlessly with a smooth and tight closure.

Due to the thin yet relatively wide dimension of the box, it makes for an ideal portable snuff/pill case - fitting in all types of pockets with ease and comfort. A great addition to a collection or for personal use on an outing.

Condition

Good Condition - Please bear in mind this item is antique and shows slight signs of cosmetic wear on the exterior and interior of the item. The interior gilding has slight dots of metallic ware and the exterior has a few very minute dents. Please refer to the photos for further details on the condition of this item.
