We are delighted to offer this magnificent pair of antique Georgian gold enamel earrings, made c.1880.
This unique and beautiful pair is made with the most captivating royal blue enamel on top of a sunburst guilloche design. The surrounding seed pearls and one larger central peal form a cluster 'target' design with a band of white enamel and gold to further accentuate its design.
In low light settings, the blue enamel turns almost navy/black colour yet when light strikes the sunburst surface, it radiates a rich and bright blue tone making it such a sensational and contrasting piece to wear.
Upon a quick glance, these earrings are most certainly eye-catching and a conversation starter, however, it is upon closer inspection that its quality, finesse and craftsmanship can be truly appreciated.
The manner in which each seed pearl has been meticulously set with hardly any space in between is very impressive, and in doing so it effectively hides the setting. Furthermore, the 'tightness' and quality of enamelling is superb with a very fine white ring surrounded by two gold borders and perfectly smooth blue enamel in the centre.
The combination of such striking aesthetics with intricate craftsmanship makes for a delicate yet regal statement piece to wear, embracing the craftsmanship of the Georgian era to the fullest.
Overall, a remarkable piece of fine Georgian jewellery whether it be a special gift or a personal addition. This pair would most certainly make for a unique addition for the distinguished antique jewellery lover and an instant conversation starter upon wearing. Perfect as a standalone accessory to accentuate your outfit or among other jewellery.
The pair is unmarked as is common with articles of this period and as such we have tested it fully with results indicating 9ct gold (the studs are a later replacement, marked 14K).
All of our jewellery comes with a complimentary modern hard shell gift box with a velvet interior. Please note, any other antique boxes/display items are not included unless otherwise stated.
